Journaling Pianist Back Home!

It's been a whirlwind of a tour in the Atlantic - which wrapped up last Sunday. I learned a lot, met a lot of people and saw a lot of beautiful places on the east coast of Canada. It was really so meaningful for me to connect and share music with so many people over the course of the past two weeks.

But I'm definitely glad to be back in the comfort of my own home, with easy access to a piano to practice on! As soon as I came home, I was busy preparing for my lesson and studio class at UBC the next day. I was very out-of-shape to say the least. This was a little surprising, especially since the last time I did a tour, I felt like my physical stamina was at an all-time high by the end of it. With this tour, it was the opposite, I feel like I needed to readjust and return to the basics again to work up my technique. I wonder if it's because of the technique of piano duet is a little different from solo playing. Not to mention I really couldn't practice regularly so I relied a lot on mental practice to get new pieces ready for the class!

It was super lovely to meet all my studio mates at last after a month of delay and to hear some of them too. My teacher Dr. Hamm really creates such a wonderful atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support, and I'm happy to be back in Vancouver this year to soak it all up.

Well, that's it for this week. My duo will be performing in Vancouver on Oct 14 at the Annex so make sure to book those tickets in advance! More exciting projects are in the works so stay tuned for that. Meanwhile, follow my Instagram page for the most regular content!
